For 80s cricket fans, there's a piece on the England '88 debacle here. Lots of bonus Essex coverage for Grep - Gooch, Foster, Captain Pringle (!) and even a mention of John Childs in the comments... theguardian.com

I remember Kepler Vessels opening and thinking " don't they have some unusual names in Australia?": I was astounded to see him opening for SA a few years later...

Am going to have to think about batters - James Taylor. Before that will need to check who have England caps (my main era was Dudleston, John Steele, Balderstone - can't think of many who challenged for England spots)
