That doesn't really stack up, WS, in as much as you only have to go into the local League structure which now has premier leagues and so on. Ask any local player who the best batter for x team is or the best bowler with y and you soon find that they have been in the system somewhere. For example, locally 10 years ago, our best batter was Kevin Parsons. He was (is) the (identical) twin brother of Keith, who was on Somerset staff for a long time and had a good career. The difference? Keith bowled a bit too. Kevin was let go from Somerset at around 21 from memory. By his own admission, he wasn't *quite* good enough. The same could probably be said of Wes Durston who didn't quite fulfil his talent although he played Somerset and Derbyshire. The exception that proves the rule is Pete Trego, who was released by Somerset, performed in local leagues and was picked up by Middlesex (memory fails) before returning home and now just off to Yorkshire I think...

When he's been available - which isn't often, Wes has been quite effective for Oakham in the last two or three years. Mind you there is a feeling among teams on the receiving end that he gets the rub of the green from umpires because they enjoy watching him bat!!
I've not seen any youngsters playing locally that I'd say were better than him

India’s win in the T20 World Cup will be a shock to to the Aussies. I think they’re second favourites to win the tournament behind the hosts. They’re learning fast and now have the financial backing to compete. Watch out for India.
