It did look as if Gayle's all-time T20 record was under threat.

After all, get to 156 and a few overs of Dernbach up your sleeve. You'd fancy it!

Can't believe they didn't pick Carberry.
Hmm, 37-3, I'm not sure I want to watch this anymore, especially as they've declined to play Carberry.

What's the rational behind picking Carberry (or not), Wobbling?
Lumb, Hales, Wright, Morgan, Root have all been in the one-day/20-20 team for a while.

Carberry has been in screaming form especially on his home patch. Hales has been a bit random this season.

Hmmm, 33 year old v 24 year old.
Doubt Carberry will be around for the next world cup - I guess that might have had some bearing on selection.
Never been a particular fan of his. But, yes, he has been reasonable form this year.

Root's played Tests all summer, I think he needs a rest and Carberry's had a great season so far, including 146 for England A against Bangladesh and 100* in a T20 match both earlier this month. It's his home ground as well, and I think it's time we gave him another chance to show his talent in an England shirt.

Not particularly convinced by the seam bowling attack though.
Finn can be expensive in 1dayers. Jury still out on Dernbach. Lot of pressure on Broad.

Jury's been in for me for a few months for Dernbach - I don't care how many variants he has, he's not international class at any length of cricket. I'd rather have a couple of Wright-esque dobblers...
