Agreed on Finn - he's a 1st class type of bowler; limited overs isn't his forte...

Not sure whether the game is at a players home ground or not should have a bearing on selection at all.

Also not sure about the someone's had his turn but done nothing wrong, let's give someone else a chance argument either.

Root wouldn't get a rest either - he'd be playing for Yorkshire as he's not centrally contracted. Although I have to say I wouldn't have been opposed to that decision against Durham.

Root could do with a rest and, again, he doesn't look a 'natural' T20er - I'd have played Bairstow or Carberry ahead of him...

Dibbly-dobbler bowlers aren't the answer either I'm afraid - we've two in tonight's team - Wright and Bopara. One would have been sufficient IMO.

Especially given Briggs is unproven at international level and I'm not convinced by him and Root is only a part-time spinner at best (much as I like him) - he could be a "proper" second spinner, but he's got some way to go - as proved this evening!

Quite happy Bairstow is playing for Yorks TBH!

Still not worked out how we've managed to swindle playing Phil Jacques and Kane Williamson though? Is Jacques on a Kolpak?

The sooner England work out Bairstow is a Wicketkeeper-Batsman and not a no 6, and therefore he's a Prior-replacement at 7, not a 6, the better it'll be for England and Bairstow.

Ballance looks to be the next no. 6. Although that leaves Yorks a bit thin on the ground, especially when Lyth and Lees get the call-ups they're bound to at some point....

I'd also like my no 6 to have some ability to bowl, if they stick to the 3pace+ 1 spin formula. But better than Bopara and Woakes. Ballance doesn't bowl though to my knowledge...

And Doogs - 30 off 15 at the moment - not a 20/20 player?.....

Personally I think batsmen should just take every opportunity to bat. Especially the younger players. Getting early call-ups can actually hinder their development. I'd like to see them playing as many county games as possible but the scheduling is nuts.

Don't underestimate some of these Aussies. I really rate Faulkner in this format - was brilliant for Rajasthan this year. Finch was about the only good player Pune had too.

^^^^ agree with tea (and a certain G Boycott)

Think all England players should be playing county cricket as much as possible.
