*facepalm*
Yes Yumee, it's not rocket science is it? If only the powers that be understood that.
Hipps- the job has become a lot more challenging! If those see-through masks are actually a thing it would be a definite step in the right direction

WA yes. Those see through masks would certainly help...also for our hearing impaired patients.
Apparently I have very expressive and friendly eyes. I need them! Using my hands a lot more when speaking

I'm not especially anxious for myself either, despite being at increased risk of VTE, but I am anxious for my patients who are also all vulnerable and shielding. I've seen it rip through a hospital ward because of one infected asymptomatic patient, killing half the ward and one of the nurses. There's only one way it went from their 6-bedded bay to the rest of the ward.

If I was a palliative care patient on your ward ...I think I'd rather die a bit earlier with Covid ..with people who knew what they were doing to make me comfortable.
Rather than with inexperienced scared staff who were clueless.
It's not a great choice but ...

It's a valid point; but we do discharge more than half our patients, we're not just there for end of life care. And right now we have no unit. It was the first ward to be closed and given over to covid because it was newly built and had the best ventilation. All we can do is visit our patients who are scattered about the hospital, being looked after by inexperienced scared staff, and when I visit them I am trying to comfort them in a fucking mask.
