I've just been catching up with this thread and I can almost feel the worry and anxiety radiating from it. Can't remember a time like this at all..

One thing I have seen happening recently is people setting up FB or Whatsapp groups for their local area which people can use to offer support and advice. Might be worth looking up for people with aged Parents who are some distance away? Something practical that might help anyway. Or set up one of your own? Our next door neighbours are both in their 80s and we've offered to help them out with shopping etc, but I'm conscious we are both reasonably fit and we could help more people if they need a wee bit of assistance every now and then.

Run Free - doesn't look quite as severe as that yet gov.sg

I assume there's 1000s of daily migrants from Malaysia into Singapore for work? I know from my time there we used to have 100s come in on buses each day - and that's just one manufacturing unit.

Just a quickie... We have neighbours in their 70s who are smallholders. They don't watch the news and have no internet. How would they even be informed of any quarantine? Same as where I used to work, large amount of British Pakistani elderly. No internet, only TV watched is from Pakistan via satellite and no integrated community to otherwise inform.

- hopefully, Turts, they'll also stay away from likely infectors naturally?

- do your neighbours have family that would be keeping them up to date?

I know nothing about the Pakistani community, but I thought the family was important - I hope so and that the correct information will be communicated

Thanks Um. The announcement was made today (Sunday) by the Ministry of Health to suspend all non-essential travel: moh.gov.sg

However as Singapore has a special relationship with M'sia, those who travel by sea or land between these two countries are exempt.

I don't know anywhere near enough of my neighbours to know who might need extra assistance or not. I was considering printing little slips and putting them through doors, but which doors?
Holding off for now anyway as the Independent reports NHS England's chief exec has now said third year student nurses will be called in to help. Hopefully more info on that tomorrow.

Bet my bloody exam won't be cancelled though!
