I do think that sadly that is the mind set of sone people - the respect for the surroundings has been lost.

Bonners - Racist? I said that everything should be policed equally - if beach goers are to be castigated so should demo attendees - I I regard demos across all sides to be irresponsible in a pandemic. Take back those comments which are highly defamatory.

Probably shows your own bigotry to automatically assume I was referring to only one side. Whatever the cause & how ever just or otherwise now is not the time for mass protest or perhaps you’re happy to throw all the good work NHS frontline staff have done back in their face for a just cause!

It’s my concern for others that is specifically why I think there shouldn’t be mass protests!

LG - we are asking our council not to cut the grass verges and for wild flowers to be allowed to grow. It encourages the wildlife to thrive, like bees which we need to encourage and saves the council money FYI: bbc.co.uk

A report in the 'Crosby Champion' this week, that contractors mowed down rare orchids while cutting grass round runways at RAF Woodvale, some 6 miles S of Southport, their 2nd visit of the year. A comment from a wildlife agent revealed that gulls & other high-flying birds sought cropped grass on which to land and roost - because predators were easier to see. Other aeronautical facilities similarly affected? |

Our public bins (market town by the Wharfe) have been overflowing largely with takeaway containers, bottles etc and I hope that once people can go back to pubs and restaurants, and don’t feel they have to recreate the experience in public spaces, then the amounts will drop (see also: illegal street parties vs nightclubs and organised festivals). Having said that, out for a very early morning “beat the heat” walk, I watched a family of crows very methodically empty a bin and examine and disperse the contents widely as they looked for scraps of food!

I get the cost saving bit and I also get in larger spaces where wildflowers will grow to keep it flourishing but the actual road verges need to be done - again my opinion

Walking round Victoria Park the litter bins were looking rather full and loads of picnics and gatherings and no where to put rubbish. I would take mine home but it gets put beside the full bins and then it gets scattered by birds and other wildlife.
