If you read the full schedule from the link JDA posted - *all* outdoor pools are supposed to close.

Now the legislation didn't specify that it means commercial outdoor pools (where your chances of catching this are practically zero anyway!) - it says *all* outdoor pools.

Technically under the legislation as written, it bans paddling pools.

That legislation applies to England, wonders if Scotland has something similar?

From the original legislation - this bit not amended

"the place where a person is living includes the premises where they live together with any garden, yard, passage, stair, garage, outhouse or other appurtenance of such premises"

So it remains entirely legitimate to be in your garden doing whatever you wish (subject to whatever other existing decency/nuisance etc legislation may apply)

And the bit about Outdoor Pools comes under Schedule 2 of the Legislation entitled:

"Businesses subject to restrictions or closure" - so, again, it has no impact whatsoever on private pools (swimming/paddling or hot tubs) on your own property.

Note - I am not a lawyer - just somebody who prefers things in their proper context

From the original (english) regs :- For the purposes of paragraph (1), the place where a person is living includes the premises where they live together with any garden, yard, passage, stair, garage, outhouse or other appurtenance of such premises.

But presumable, the effect is that we have to do any 'non essential' shopping before the essential elements, so if stopped we can legitimately claim to be on the way there?

But I wonder why that was one of the changes? It didn't sound as though that was necessarily causing problems? I'd have preferred 'must not make any noise that can be heard outside your living place, especially crappy music'

I was going to post the same as CumbriAndy. Backgarden paddling pools, private swimming pools on your property are not businesses, no imposed closure. Not that either affects me!

Our town got on the news a while back for scheduled socially distanced "dancing in the street". The new "or be outside" phrase would certainly, at face value, put a stop to that *unless* such dancing was considered to be taking exercise. And the increasingly common "go on a walk to your friends, and sit and have a natter in their front garden for an hour, at a social distance" would also seem to fall foul of that.

Oh, the local facebook pages will love that!!

Quite amusing that they got the term for the DWP wrong.

"(iv)in sub-paragraph (i)(iii), for “Department of Work” substitute “Department for Work”."

I think I might have been the first to write "headlong dive into totalitarianism" or similar on here ;-), but honestly fozzy, I'm finding you pronouncements increasingly vexatious and ridiculous. I'm wondering even if you are trolling (in which case, I've just bitten) but sheesh ~rolls eyes~.

I am wondering about the frankly fucking weird places some people appear to be living - or are there just a few "panic merchants" about, overlapping with those happy to sound off without bothering to get the most basic facts right?

Surely not the kind of word anyone associated Alexander Boris de Pfeffel Johnson with would use?

Here are links to the LAW on the corona lockdown (England) to help you distinguish law, guidelines and random ranting at the telly and make informed and sensible decisions about exercising.

I will try to update if this changes.
