BK brighter days ahead
HT - at 5.30 in the morning? We have had a lot more car traffic on the main roads during our early morning run than pre Christmas. notice it more as it has become difficult to cross main road leading to A2 interchange whereas in past the only obstacle was the dark clothed man using an e-bike on the footpath - it was safer being on the road. Some likely to be hospital staff change of shifts but suspect many are heading to the A2 and city offices. Unfortunately we have also noticed at least 3 or 4 ambulances blue lighting each day, something we rarely saw in the past. |

Back to Novavax, one possible reason it has been highlighted by experts as a potential big winner is that early stage trials demonstrated sterilising immunity in primates. That means the virus cannot bind to cells and start to replicate itself, so it cuts out the chance that a vaccinated person transmits without an infection taking hold. More data required to show that holds true in humans, or rather what rate of sterilising immunity has been found, if any. If delivery of 60m doses to UK did happen in second half of 2021 then it might be used on the working population, which could floor the rate of transmission among those who tend to move around the most. However, we don't know how well it works against SA strain yet. This is being worked on, and it might be that those who have been vaccinated already need a booster to help fend off newer variants. |

Ok didnt realise you meant early morning, but there are more people on building sites now than first lockdown, and they have to travel on their own now too. Agree that the environment has taken a bit of a hit this time - public transport might be in terminal decline which would be tragic IMO |

HT - that’s what I worry about re public transport - pre-pandemic, I already had people who thought I was a weirdo for mainly travelling by public transport and that it was “dirty”. I do worry that services that have been slashed to the bare minimum won’t be reinstated.

On subject of where they driving to, I appear to have been added into a WhatsApp group by accident inviting me to a drive-by Barmitzvah - guests drive past to collect goody bag and are allocated a time to avoid traffic jams in the street. Judging by the responses nobody gets the dont leave home message! |

I haven't travelled by train for a month. But, pre Christmas, I did about once a fortnight. Always fine.

If SK would like to add this to the sidebar, it’s the best bit of my day seeing the numbers rocketing up vaccine-tracker.uk |
