JB - the same as consent for any other procedure. The vaccinator should talk to your lad, assess his ability to consent and talk with the accompanying career. In practice a “best interests” decision would be to vaccinate

Guernsey has gone back into lockdown for the first time since June due to cases of community transmission in people who haven't been off the island. Last part of the British Isles I think. Sad for them. (Presume the parkrun will now be cancelled too) |

JB - in practice, few questions asked. My son with learning disabilities presented an enthusiastic demeanour, and I simply filled in the consent form and he signed it. "Best interests" would be easy to justify too of course and I can only imagine the most busy body of social workers would even think about intervening and forcing it to go through a formal best interest panel decision. Once your son turns 18 though to do need to at least consider whether your natural decision as a parent might be challenged by a reasonable social work team looking to support him in his adult choices.

My second jab is 31st March, 11 weeks after the first one. Has anyone read any of the articles/advice about the effect of drinking alcohol on effectiveness of vaccines/body’s response to vaccines? drinkaware.co.uk |
