Having read the NERVTAG summary, it does seem like it could be more deadly, although there is a lot of leeway on exactly how much more based on the early data. More data will give us more clarity. There are limitations to the studies, but they have been done in slightly different ways, which usually accounts for these things. The evidence only reflects what's actually happening, so we're not suddenly going to get an extra surge in deaths because it's already been happening.

There are reasons for optimism:
Cases are coming down.
Deaths might be too.
Hospitalisations are coming down slowly, but occupancy is still extreme because of the long period they are hospitalised for (which is a good thing in some ways because it means people who otherwise have died are surviving).
The vaccine deployment is on track to get 1st shots to the most vulnerable in the next three weeks.

Interesting... I just read that S17’s primary school teachers/staff (special school) are all going to be vaccinated next week. I wonder if they are being classified as social care (haven’t heard similar for his secondary school yet).

Back I wasn’t saying it was less deadly I was saying the media were pushing more virulent less deadly when the death rate said anything but (thanks MN)

The communications and messaging needs to be accurate and reiterated as people hear what they want to hear.

I had a flaunt in aldi today. I was selecting some steak for dinner tomorrow. This bloody woman came right next time me squeezing in as an assistant was stacking shelves I stepped back saying crack on - she said it’s ok I’ve got a mask on (as did I) but I said rules are still 2m distancing I’ll wait you’re obviously in a hurry! 😡 She looked at me like I was mad eventually chose her steak and left.

It’s happening more often the last couple of shop visits.

Number of cases in my town "suppressed" data.

I think that means that incidence is extremely low, but not sure.
