Robin Francis of the channel Medlife Crisis was firmly of the opinion that low vitamin D levels are a marker of frailty rather than vitamin D having magical powers.

I suspect that'd be the case for many vitamin and mineral deficiencies, causality is not causation!

I think youtube videos from self-appointed experts are the best way of getting to the bottom of the global conspiracies of the elites.

Lol jda. I've managed not to reply to F's unhelpful and unsubstantiated comments. Glad you have. Thanks. :-) G

Anecdotally from my in-laws, some of the people over 70 not being vaccinated is because they have difficulty getting to the vaccine centres. They’re often out of their locale, and they have to rely on lifts or buses to get there which is off putting, so it’s not necessarily that they are anti vaccine

In Scotland (and this has been criticized but as I've said before in Scotland thread, I think it's right) they went for local vaccination delivery via in-home, in-care home and local GP rather than huge central vaccination hubs that you could only get to by car. Slower, but fairer, imho. Anyway, hopefully we'll get to everyone as fast as possible. Take care everyone. :-) G

Indeed by all accounts vit D plummets as soon as you get sick, so you have to do a prospective measurement of vit D and the wait for them to get sick to get good results.

My n of 1 study is that taking daily vit D stopped me from getting a bad case of covid, although OH probably had it too (but he would probably have better vit D levels naturally) and also had very mild symptoms (not enough to stop either of us running).

For virtually everyone taking vit D over the winter is likely to be helpful, and very unlikely to be harmful (taking the recommended amount), which is why the government is funding supplementation for some people, although i haven't heard whether anyone's actually received any yet.

Yes, that's true fraggle. I didn't mean to imply otherwise.
