I probably gained another 18 today, which I think would take me to 115 for the month.

Only 13 from Bournemouth marathon, which doubles back on itself a lot.

Ceratonia, did you enjoy Bournemouth? I was on the third water station at about the 8 mile mark.

I did enjoy Bournemouth. There was a group of families from the village where I live and some of the teenage kids (and one mum) did the 10k/5k on Saturday and 4 of us did the marathon on Sunday. I really liked that there were several races. Also the way the course is set up means that you get to run past your supporters several times without much effort on their part and you get to see the people who are in front or behind you several times too. Plenty for the spectators to do while waiting of course.
That said, I did Chester on the same day last year, and loved it - feels like it is organised by runners, for runners, every little detail taken care of. Bournemouth did feel a little like a profit making machine at times - £8.50 each for the bus back to the start? It was only £8 for 3 of us in a taxi...

That's interesting. I have always thought BMF was overpriced and a con to charge extra for the shuttle bus. The company behind it is the same as the one behind EMF (Edinburgh) and so is a profit making organisation.
My club has done the same water station all 4 years and I'm one of the "ever presents"! It is good fun and a chance to give something back to the running community.
I'm glad you enjoyed it though as it is a lovely area. I'm not a fan of running on the prom, but I do love the cliff tops.

From what I hear they make a very good job of things at Bournemouth but for some reason always screw things up in Edinburgh !!
I have no issue with paying a company for a service as long as I get a good service, same with any industry - i might give Bournemouth a go next year ?
