And 18 new zones today, including some allegedly explored for the first time. A bit hard to believe on the South Coast, but even McGoohan avoided this bit. Up to 89 for the month now.

Chris, if is isn't impolite to ask, how do you manage to achieve a target such as 100 new zones in a month when you already have 4,736 zones? I can understand how someone like gymfreak tops the tables (I know her in real life as we run for the same club) by simply cycling silly miles in silly long rides that open up neigh on endless possibilities, but if you are running there is a limit. I live about 25 miles west of London not far from the Thames and run from home up and downstream about 10 miles. I work in Hammersmith, also on the Thames, and do the same. My Conquercise goal is to join up my two regions which will give me an uninterrupted run of about 50 sections long and maybe up to 8 deep in places, but that is probably 2 to 3 hundred zones tops.

It *is* increasingly difficult to reach new zones, but I am retired and I am in love with the beauties of England. I have targets such as the NDW, the Ridgeway and the Thames Path, running round the Kent coast from Dartford and getting the whole of Surrey.
When I worked there was quite a lot of travel, including a whole summer spent in Lincoln.
There's an understanding with my wife that I go out running once a week.
What I would like to do is for us to go somewhere for a walk, then I would leave my wife in an art gallery or pub while I run back and get the car. We've not done that yet.
I like travelling by train and am good at finding cheap tickets. I have a bus pass and I can use timetables. I'm not bad at map-reading. Sometimes I drive, and when I drive on my own, I usually stop somewhere during the journey for a few miles of running. On train trips that aren't just for running, I may take my bike for the sole purpose of leaving ordinary clothes and shoes in its pannier while I run. And whenever we go anywhere, I make sure I take the opportunity to run.
Finally, friends and family know I like to run in new places.

I am not quote retired yet so am a bit more pushed for time but love the plan. When I was young (mid 80s) you used to be able to buy an all day bus ticket that was valid on any bus apart from the X (express) routes. This was designed to be used for local excursions etc but like you, I can read read a timetable and was able to do vast cross country routes very cheaply and very slowly. My record was King's Lynn to North Wales in one day.
The plan I have in lie for my wife is something based on a Fiat Doblo van with the facility to make a nice pot of tea so drive to a nice place and park up, go for a run and leave her to admire the view and have tea and cakes in the warm and dry.

Hi I've noticed in the last week or so that when one clicks on the glasses next to a user name you used to be able to see the zones they'd conquered, but now just shows my own map. It was great to be able to check how my mate/conquercise nemesis was doing. Is this a deliberate thing or not? Any chance we could have that back when you (fetch) get chance. It's not a matter of life or death but I feel I am currently out zone owning him so fear I am missing out on bragging rights!
Thanks

The loss of the ability to view another's conquered zones happened during the refurb about 2-3 months ago. It was pointed out to Fetch at the time and he promised it would be restored.
Not sure if he's forgotten, or its just been moved down the priority list.
Now he's moved on to updating the training log view, I wouldn't hold your breath

Managed to conquer six previously undiscovered zones last night, but only because of a Garmin glitch - it tracked a spurious route directly west of where I was as I came into the house without stopping the watch

Ah ok, I'm surprised it's been that long since I checked but there you go. It's not the end of the world, he is a busy man.
Impressive, I noticed my friend owned a zone to the west of Equatorial Guinea. He wouldn't relinquish it though
