I have a relaxing couple of days ahead as we go to son & DiL for Christmas Day. It’s noisy and chaotic with the boys. We then relax on Boxing Day before getting ready to go away for NY. This year my friend will sadly be on her own (it’s also her birthday) as her husband left her at weekend. 😢😢. Sorry for that bit of gloom. Have a great few days being with the ones you love ( if you can ) |

I’m very thankful that the biggest stress I have is whether family will like their gifts and enjoy their dinner! We’re hosting as always and it’s busy and tiring but we love it and wouldn’t have it any other way. Thinking of Lippy’s poor friend and others who will find Christmas especially hard this year… |

So sad for your friend, LG. Have eaten breakfast. Now thinking about getting a second coffee. |

That’s awful LG. I had an early dash to the supermarket for cauliflowers. They’d run out yesterday. My cauliflower cheese is legendary 😉 |

I've not felt Christmassy at all this year, which I find most odd as I'm usually very excited. Not really engaged with much outside of food shopping. Had a joyous cycle yesterday, everyone was saying hello, even the yappy hounds made me smile. Then I remembered about MiL's best friend, who had an excellent innings of 96 before passing away only hours earlier. It's almost as if I can't let myself enjoy the season as there are so many folks that aren't in a comfortable and happy state, so it's not fair for me to be overly happy |

In-laws are installed and in reasonable health, food is shopped for and Mr S is finishing his pile of wrapping. I am nominally working from home this morning, but just keeping an eye on emails etc and will clock off at lunchtime. Hope everyone's plans work out well and if not, sending love and strength to deal with whatever life throws at you. With much love to anyone who finds this season difficult for whatever reason. |

It’s now just the two of us tomorrow (in-laws were coming but both have been struck down with a virus). We’re saving the turkey for a delayed Christmas but bought a beef joint yesterday so we will be having a Sunday roast on Christmas Day instead.
