Thanks, smallclanger :) Trying to picture where you were to see if I can recall a distinctive feature.

Aah V rap… as you came back to the houses … at an island that you stayed left of. Two ladies were there vigorously dancing all day to cheesy music in wigs and tutus.

A mile probably before you reached teg horrible Sandy Lane

I remember the dancing ladies in wigs and tutus :) And I think the turn on to Sandy Lane was where a marshal or spectator shouted, "You're looking really strong," and I shouted back, "I AM really strong! I am a LION! RAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAR!" And then I wonder why none of the other runners wanted to chat with me muppet

I think I probably will, as it's the Masters' representational again. I really need to find a faster race somewhere else as well though - those undulations in the last 10k or so just kill me!

Post this on the 2022 thread, but for the metric marathoners remember that the distance is 26.6km not the expected 26.2km.

I don't know if they publicised this prior to the 2022 running, but the 2023 website details definitely says 26.6km and this seems to tally with the distance run by most this year on their race. I can't see a measurement certificate for the metric this year (though there was a new certificate for the 2022 marathon, so it may be incorporated into that). The 2022 booklet still did state 26.2km so perhaps they didn't realise it was long until the day, but they've definitely updated the website for the 2023 version to say 26.6km.

I only looked because Rob Deering on the Running Commentary podcast mentioned that he'd seen it was a 26.6km race and wanted to verify that!

Went out for a run this morning wearing my 2022 top but had to take it off after a mile!
Looking forward to getting a smaller top next year!

I'm in! Metric - only done it once before. The race angels have been revived and will be on Sandy Lane - Mr AL will be one of them :)
