Vet just called (I am now doing online work so can't go to the Hospital until about 8pm when I finish). He's not responded too well to the medicine, and is apparently only just able to stand up. The vet feels that there should have been more improvement, so re-scanned his heart and feels no change there.
It is in place for him to go over Rainbow Bridge around 9pm, but the Vet has said if he does miraculously improve when I get there, I can still take him home and try the medicine.

Poor Spike. It's a terrible responsibility and decision to make, but I know you'll do right by him - whether that be letting him go, or (should he improve) seeing out his extra time.
