Not me Frank.

I hope you enjoy it - I guess you’ve experienced a similar session at previous Bostons? - I’ve not been to an expo yet that I didn’t want to get out of ASAP.

Re the cost of ‘merchandise’: e.g. the 2019 B.A.A. rain jacket is $110 in the marathon store on the finish line.

The Tracksmith store on Newbury Ave (parallel with Boylston) is a cool community running hub too, friendly and knowledgable folk. The kit is really tempting but too pricey for me.

I'll be with missus so doing pretty "minimum" marathon experience stuff, to be honest. Not sure I'll be buying any merch at that price either! Do we get a free race t-shirt?

Hope weather warms up a bit for next week or my missus is going to be cursing me! :-) G

Gosh, that Peter Bromka blog is full of emotion!

I didn't realise there is no bag drop - so you have to discard whatever you wear? Needs to be a disposable t-shirt + plastic bin bag type thing? :-) G

Wave 2 bus loading 7-7:45am - being a person who values her sleep, does anyone know if we can catch later buses? i know it's not encouraged....

I haven't been back to Boston in 10+ years!

Last year they didn't stop you catching later buses but strongly encouraged you to catch the "right" ones.

And I'd forgotten to get Iron On letters for my race shirt. Just ordered them. Hope they arrive in time. Soooo important to have your name on your shirt / vest for maximum shout value!

I never sleep well night of the race anyway, I'll probably be down early for my bus! :-) G

re: disposable clothing at the start - i remember seeing one runner starting with an empty rucksack to collect nice tech shirts/jackets/kit discarded by other marathoners along the route. definitely good shopping.

Lol. I'm a cheapskate but picking up discarded clothing intended for charities and carrying it round for 26.X miles? In a race you've paid 200 quid to do?! Well even I wouldn't do that!

Benefit Off the doubt, maybe s/he was representing a charity?

I just got a shout on national radio for "everyone doing Boston mara next weekend" under the guise of asking if I could pick up their show in USA! :-) G

Wet, cold and windy for a bimble up to Harvard along the Charles river this morning. A bin liner or disposable rain top should be in your throwaway gear too.

Btw if you find yourself pining for the taste of home and you have time after a surfeit of clam chowder and lobster dinners, I can thoroughly recommend the Kashmir Indian restaurant on Newbury Street.
