There should be something on it which prevents anyone but Greppers from sitting on it. Like a cat flap that only opens for "its own" cat. Means Greppers would have to wear a collar with a microchip on it.

I think the entire Bronte clan were misrepresented by Gaskell's biography of Charlotte. I'd take anything she said with a pinch of salt to be honest. Juliet Barker's The Brontes is a much more satisfying and in depth biography of the family.
