Having read a couple of reviews of The Cranes I think I will give it a miss. One of the reviews described it as being "not for the faint-hearted" - while I don't consider myself particularly faint-hearted, I do have a tendency to lie awake worrying gloomily, negatively and irrationally about anything and everything if I happen to wake up at 2 in the morning and can't get back to sleep. And this looked like a book which would only contribute to that tendency. But I shall be interested to see what others make of it. As for The Goldfinch, I enjoyed it but not enough to seek out others by the same author. |

I'm up for a bit of disturbing horror and I was a massive fan of The League of Gentlemen so I'm going for it! Found a 2nd hand copy which should be with me in a few days

TCTBTC has arrived today and I've started the first story already Enjoying it so far and it's a nice contrast to Season of Migration to the North which I'm finding quite grim. |
