I loved the Goldfinch too. I didn't like the Secret History by the same author, but I did like the Weird Studies podcast take on it "there are no dream sequences in the book, they are intended to be actual happenings" reading, which made me think I should go back to it to see if I agree.

I loved TSH but I read it when I was in my 20s and I wonder whether that's why.

Oooh we could do a books we loved in our 20s, but have read again and didn't like at all, or suspect we really wouldn't like digression here... I'll start I think that might be true for Charles Bukowski.(might not haven't dared look).
