I put off reading him for years but I did (mostly) enjoy it. I've foolishly started the long version of The Stand so I may have to miss January's books as well

Great Expectations good, David Copperfield also good, semi-autobiographical. I like all the Dickens I've ever read. You do have to adjust your mind a bit, but once adjusted it will cope with other 19th-century stuff. There's a lot of humour in Dickens, - some of Mrs. Nickleby's meandering speeches in Nicholas Nickleby are hilarious.

Mainly stuff I've read before and my memory gets jogged about how much I enjoyed it.
