Little Nemo - Shut up knee!
I recommend Great Expectations as a first Dickens book to try. I put off reading him for years but I did (mostly) enjoy it.
I've foolishly started the long version of The Stand so I may have to miss January's books as well

A Christmas Carol is not a full-length novel, Daz, so might be a good one to start with.
Great Expectations good, David Copperfield also good, semi-autobiographical. I like all the Dickens I've ever read. You do have to adjust your mind a bit, but once adjusted it will cope with other 19th-century stuff. There's a lot of humour in Dickens, - some of Mrs. Nickleby's meandering speeches in Nicholas Nickleby are hilarious.

Yorkshire Mince Pie
I'm reading History of the Rain which in turn is making me want to read loads of other stuff as throughout the book the narrator refers to other books. Mainly stuff I've read before and my memory gets jogged about how much I enjoyed it.
