Oliver Cromwell's head

TL;DR: after the restoration of the monarchy, Cromwell's body was dug up and he was 'hanged'. His head was then put on a spike as a warning to other would-be regicides.

Later it became a tourist attraction, being owned by various people and put on display in private museums etc. Eventually it was buried in a secret location in Sidney Sussex College, Cambridge (his alma mater)

If you get chance you should give the TV series a go. Apart from the great acting it looks amazing and the music is good too.
