Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Use the money you would have spent on weights to buy a subscription to these guys
schoolofcalisthenics.com
Or a lifetime subscription to Al Kavadlo’s We’re Working Out app is something like £10.

I decided against the weights and got a pull up bar instead. I'm seeing progress with it and will use it for further developing my press ups. Once I get down to the 2nd stair, my feet will be out of the front door so I need an alternative at that height.

HK, good shout. I won't get the subscription but I might nick some of those exercises! I could do more of the handstand ones to simulate overhead presses. I could also hold positions for longer I guess.

Just read through Happy's list of exercise videos requested - starting with crow. 'The book' is coming today, but if crow is in there anywhere near the start, having seen Homeless Kodo's blog and photo the other day - I think I'll just bash my face against the floor now, breaking my glasses and nose in the process - and send the book back un-opened for a full refund :)

Everybody trying the crow nuts the floor 😀. You either need to have a stack of pillows in front of you or be able to get an arm round quick to cushion the fall. I used the arm method & got a sore shoulder.

...your wrists will take a hammering so it’s a good idea to build wrist strength & mobility.

I have no intention of attempting the crow at any point soon - certainly not until the MissTeas are back at school.

Not that I could attempt it even if I wanted to. My upper body strength is exactly what you'd expect from someone who only ever runs (in terms of exercise) and spends most of their day typing on a laptop.

I can now hang from the bar for 33 seconds; up from 3 on 26th December.

Big improvement GM, congratulations.
I’ve just signed up to SoC for a year. I blame this thread entirely for that decision.
