Does anyone fancy doing " The 102 km Sceptre " Audax ride on the 31st. Its the first one I've ever entered so I do not know what to expect. I'm assuming I'm just given a map and left to get on with it with friendly peeps at the beginning and end. I'll be driving down from Crystal Palace to Ashford and can fit one possibly two in.

Hehehe, just got back from 19 miles... running on the fells! Took a wrong turn in the clag and had to backtrack, adding about 2 miles to the tally... I am surprised about my levels of fitness! I can most definitely do 22 miles on 14 June if I can keep this up.

Most importantly, I think this fell running fitness if largely due to the training I have done on the bike! It really does seem to have strengthened up the legs for fell running, sp that is not just a myth then :-)

Would love to Mackfly, but it's a bit far for me (not the ride, but to Ashford!).

Well done on the run Hann.

Pilotlight - nice youtube vid. My LBS has one of Pantani's 1998 Tour and Giro winning mountain stage Bianchis on display along with one of his Mercatone Uno shirts. Interestingly he still had a down tube shifter for his front mech as he hardly changed gears going up hil, and this saved a bit of weight.

Very wet down south this morning. My 15 yo would not let me get out of my training ride, claiming it could be wet when I do my first Tri in August and I should learn to ride in the wet.

Got absolutely drenched. Loved it

Learned something about cornering and breaking in the wet without falling off too.

Agree MT, cycling is a totally different discipline in the wet! Sometimes a good idea to take a tiny bit of air out of your tyres rather than riding with 120psi too.

That makes sense Hamm...

I've also had a shorter stem put on my bike .. wow what a difference 1 cm makes. I feel so much more in control and much more comfortable because I can sit further back on my saddle.
