Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Thanks Mikuro. I think I'll be in Eastbourne on the Friday night and after the race heading west to Portsmouth for the Saturday night (Silvershadow is doing the GSR on the Sunday).

While not wishing to agree with that, I may well come and spectate at the GSR too. Possibly not fit to run it myself after BH so didn't sign up this year. :)

Hey, how's everyone's training going? Two months now! :-( :-) I'm behind. A bit worried. Have a touch of plantar fasciitis--tho minor, it seems--and am having to be sensible. But it's hard to "reduce mileage" as advised while building up for a mara!

Yesterday thought I'd try one of my usual hilly off-road 6 milers, v slowly, and see how the feet felt later. But it was so nice out that I couldn't help carrying on and did 11.5 BUT with lots of walking breaks to keep it easy. Seem to have gotten away with it--everything feels fine today. :-) Now I'm curious about the relative training value of the two options. It was enough time on feet to make quads nice and tired, but of course not so good a CV workout as a steady run.

Advice?

Lyra OK
Erm... yeah - I've been training very intensively. Up at six every morning and out-running the hares. Have thrown in a few back to back 20's and I'm confident of getting sub 3:30 without so much as sweating. Oh, all right, I've done precisely bugger all in August (apart from running back from the chip shop once). Sore foot (dunno what the problem was, but felt nasty) accounts for a couple of missed weeks. Lyra Junior being on summer hols has scuppered lunchtime training, so that's been a bit poo. Just been very difficult to fit in, but hoping to resume training this week. Can't tell you how much I'm missing my running now.

Sorry to hear about your foot problems SSU. Hope it won't hold you back in your training too much.
