Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Thanks for the tyre lever recommendations, I'll look out for those.

Good points fromLD. I can put a chain back on and... nothing more. It's not often I realise I'm in a world of incompetence but cycling is definitely outside my skill zone in theory and practice.

Thanks for the tyre lever recommendations - I really struggle with getting a tyre back on. Infuriating.

I’ve happily taken my touring bike to triathlons, but a heavier bike wears your running legs out.

I'm a ride it like I stole it person. That is why there are bike shops :-)

That said I do tubs/tyres and tubeless set ups so maybe I'm not all bad

I replaced the cassette and chain on my commuter bike this week. I feel quite butch.

It’s also a lot nicer to ride.

Can someone point me in the direction of a good place to read up on "Wheels"? I don't know a lot about bikes, I have a Cube Attain GTC which I have been told is a fairly ok mid-range bike. I have the wheels that came with them, bog standard regular width ones.

Everyone in my riding group has wheels with a clearly wider diameter, I'm not going to assume they go faster than me because of this though as I don't ride as much as I should but I have been told wheels do help.

I tried to do a bit of research and I realized it wasn't a simple case of just width, some wheelsets require cassettes, there's a different kind for disc brake ones and there may or may not be a specific kind for the Shimano gearset I have. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

@Gobi basically, rather than jump in the deep end and get something ridiculously expensive. Whats the best "cheapish" aero shimano 11 speed carbon wheelset i can get?

Skr - I have a set of training wheels that look like zipp 404s but are superdream carbon clinchers. Cost about 400 quid. They are good enough that I race on them.
