Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

It’s hubby’s birthday today. He loves millionaires shortbread. I’ve never made it before but I got the recipe from my mum and gave it a go.

The caramel is more like toffee even though I stopped when it reached 130 degrees rather than the 220 that the recipe stated.

Still tasted ok, just very chewy!

Sounds ‘rustic’ Elsie so hope hubby appreciates the artisan baking you did 🤣

As long as they taste fine it’s a win in my book!

Hubby says the shortbread is brilliant but the caramel/ toffee is making him scared he’ll break a tooth!!

Maybe the writer was getting their centigrade and Fahrenheit mixed up.

Could be. That would definitely have been a better time to stop I think.

I might have to try another batch soon.

I made another batch, only let the caramel go to just over 100 degrees this time and they are perfect :-)
