Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch
or for an ad-free Fetcheveryone experience!

Cheeky git. Have you not got a shed you can banish him to?

Indeed.

I was in here for a reason, that I just remembered, I am making a basic white loaf, and for once read a few of the notes, it said, try to keep your dough as wet as possible, wetter loaves bake into better bread, so I tried today and it is more difficult to work with, so we will see. Also might be that SallyK's loaf comes out fine.

Linds, I would turn it into trifle, scrape the cream off & freeze it, or invite your real friends to come and eat it!

Trifle would have been a brilliant shout. It's in the bin now.

I would have been very peed off Linds. As Lizzie said - would have scraped the cream off and frozen with the intention of having it as trifle sponge or with custard.

This is Ottolenghi’s Lemon and Blackcurrant Stripe Cake:

And this is my version:

I had to buy a bigger baking tray and the compote was a little thick, but I was really pleased with it 😊

It doubled up as Eli’s 7th birthday and a welcome to Theodora cake 🎂

I apologise for the Christmas cake stand by the way. My glass one had been put away in the wrong cupboard and I only found it this morning. I think the cake would have looked clearer on that one.
