Pulled calf has stopped all lower body training for the past week but did get a decent chest session in at the weekend. Not sure if I should attempt back tomorrow as a lot of the movements I would usually do require loading my legs with a fair bit of weight. Decisions, decisions.

It's tricky. I'm nervous of aggravating my arse strain, and it's changed what I do

Arse strain is never a good thing.

Depends on how the strain occurred...

I did the back session and all seemed ok today so managed a shoulder session before work got in the way to cut it a little short. Now I am forced to rest for a day or two without any running and not sure what to do with myself.

Did you decide about deadlifts, Mac?

Arse started to feel strained after half a mile when running yesterday, but I wonder if it's just residual tightness.
Thinking about how to work deadlifts in, as it seems I should be doing them, my current routine is doing 5x5 on each exercise, and it's difficult to add a new one in.
This morning's pratfall was on the bench press - lifted it off the hooks and my god, it felt heavy, like if I lowered it to my chest, it was going nowhere. Turns out my morning maths was out, and I was trying to shift 110Kg, rather than 90

Yep, an extra 20kg would do that!

Yep, Dedlifts are mostly posterior chain (hams, glutes, lower back, lats) but they also test your grip and your shoulders.

Well, they test mine at least.

Grip does tend to be one of the first limiting factors for heavier deadlifts once form is dialed in. Hence the prevalence of lifting straps, but I prefer hook grip personally...anyway, I digress. Weighted carries are also great for shoulder strength but traps even more so. Farmers walks are a good one for improving both.
