How did you suddenly find this thread when it’s been inactive since July? (Pretty much like most people, once Wimbledon is over they lose interest in tennis)
No ballot tickets for me this year

Amazon Prime is your friend for viewing tennis throughout the year!
I was lucky in the ballot. No2 court on the first Friday.

That’s a great ticket! Possibility of a seed and/or an upset.

This is the third time I've had success in the ballot. First time I got Ladies Final, then second time I got No1 court on the second Saturday so had the juniors final. So in some ways this seems to be a poorer option, but I'll it enjoy whatever! In my teens I used to do the queue (with parents & sister) on the second Monday and just get ground tickets.

So we hosted a successful G3 tournament over the weekend, and now it seems the LTA are considering giving us a grant to replace the floodlights on courts 4, 5 and 6 so we can do it again next year. Even though we didn't turn the floodlights on all weekend.
Tennis funding is weird. My old club had to change its name to get lottery funding for a new pavilion.

After getting ground passes through work last year, I was unsuccessful in the ballot this time.
Good to see that equal pay is being sought for both men's and women's tours for which I totally agree. It does beg the question that in grand slam events, men play the best of five sets and women three. A bit like me working a five-day week for the same pay as someone only doing three days. At least everyone tends to play the best of three most of the time on the tour.

Oddly though, I think it's (essentially) only the grand slams where there is equal prize money split between men and women. The rest of the tournaments still catching up, slowly, yet there are the ones where both men and women both play Bo3.

It’s only slams, Davis cup and Olympics where the men play best of 5. I can’t see them changing it but wonder if they did 5 sets just for week 2 (or last 3 rounds) it would work?
No ballot success for me either this year but looking forward to watching, though annoyingly it clashes with TdF both weeks. Unusually this year I recognise more names in the ladies too 10 seeds than the men’s (being the sort that swears to follow tennis year-round but finds it difficult due to lack of coverage)

I am against the equal pay at the Grand Slam events for the very reason that men and women play different number of sets (I am female btw). I know best of 5 for both men and women would cause scheduling headaches, but personally I think they could do best of 3 for first 4 rounds, then best of 5 for the quarters to finals.
Main tour is best of 3 for both men and women. The 'unequal' pay at tour events is because men is ATP and women WTA! Also, when there are both men and women events at the same location, they are often different grades e.g. Eastbourne is a WTA 500 event, but an ATP 250.
