It is but it's mostly done by paedophiles, Nazis, or paedophile Nazis. Also the sort of people who feel the need to bellow "HEY GUYS! HIT THE LIKE BUTTON AND SUBSCRIBE" at the volume of a rutting hippopotamus.

The ones who aren't like that can be ok to watch although if they start acting up they're straight on the blacklist.

It's been a thing for *at least* 10 years I think, based on seeing what my boy and stepson watch on Youtube.

And Twitch is an entire platform devoted to the same concept (watching someone else blather whilst playing).

Grep - I feel you on Hearthstone: I'm being mentally harrassed by my quests building up, esp the weeklies...

Don't really watch people playing games on youtube but have turned on twitch at times generally to watch Limmy who pretty much does it full time now instead of TV programs etc. Whilst he does play games its mainly chat, banter etc with the game in the background so more like a podcast really. Plenty other comedians etc are on there especially thanks to the pandemic.

Gambrinus, I played Alien:Isolation too and got to a point I just could not get past. I also intended to watch it through on YouTube (I think I found someone who didn't chat at all which was cool), but I didn't have the time to do so, and then forgot about it! Terrifying game though!

ElDud, I like Limmys stuff too. Much prefer watching him play a game and chat, rather than when he's just chatting, and love his non-twitch stuff. Some of his stuff is absolutely hilarious.

GregP, Oregon Trail is quite nice. It's basically a text based story with a lot of inventory management, but it's nice. It creates a good atmosphere of that time (I would imagine) and can be dipped into for 5-10mins or so if that's what you fancy.

Oh okay, thanks.

There's a new Alto's Odyssey coming tomorrow, I think - but I suspect it will be the last one rebranded for Arcade.

The only time I watch someone playing a game on YouTube is to see if it's worth buying and want to know what its like.
