Flanker - what are your options?

It looks like anytime fitness lets you use any of their clubs which could be handy for when you are in Loughborough or travelling. Not sure if the other two do.

Also LOLing @ 'get outside and go for a run' comment :-)

I've cancelled my gym membership because it was expensive and I wasn't getting my money's worth - we're looking at other options too. I think my sister uses PureGym and seems happy with it.

Ness
Mr Ness opted for utilising the space in our conservatory. A few years ago we bought treadmill, bench, bars, weights, dumbbells etc. gradually building up what we have over time. Despite having had to replace the treadmill when the electronics went I think we've saved money because of not forking out on gym fees.

I find I'm better motivated to get my weight training done too because I don't have to go out to a gym to do it.

Bit off theme here. Sorry.

I think with Pure Gym it depends where you go, I briefly joined the one in Edinburgh but the manager was a rude idiot, the place was dirty and I know more than one person who left when I did. Saying that I'd expect the standards/management varies across gyms so it would probably be a case of trying it to see if you like it.

I'm a member of a PureGym - it's been open for well over a year and the equipment / facilities are still as good as when it opened. It is stupidly busy at peak times at the moment, but that will settle down soon...

JK *chameleon*
Okay, I'm a member of a Manchester City Centre Pure Gym. Membership is £20 per month, due to its location (which whilst handily next to my workplaces, I still seem to have trouble going there)

It's been in operation for around 6 years now I think. Loads of machines - the odd treadmill here and there doesn't work as expected, but that won't be a problem for you!

It's functional. Nothing spectacular. It gets manic during peak times, but surprisingly quiet outside of the work rush times. I've partaken of a couple of classes - much depends on the calibre of PT that leads the class. I had a woeful Spin class, but Body Pump was fantastic the one time I managed to get in - the good classes swiftly book up. Watch out for certain classes where there is a premium - Yoga and that dancing exercise class whose name escapes me are two.

Oh, and I can nominate a second Pure gym to also visit - and can change this whenever I like. Useful for when you are spending time away from home.

Overall I've been content with Pure - but I am thinking of moving to one with a few more bells and whistles, and perhaps fewer young men (usually) slamming weights around to remind us how manly and strong they are.

Depends what your looking for, I've been a puregym member for a few years (but don't use it anywhere near as much as I should). it doesn't have the bells and whistles that say David Lloyd has but it's a good quality no frills gym. I've certainly got no complaints.
