Costa’s drinkable once you get to the top of the queue– they do tend to have terrible service, though (and are usually under-staffed) so it’s no good for a grab’n’run.
Pret’s my favourite big chain (slightly better than the other three) – although the fact that Carluccio does a nice croissant and a decent coffee for £2 always wins a breakfast time.
At home, I’m similarly philistine – usually either Percol instant (one sugar, tiny bit of milk) or Nespresso pods (although they don’t have enough coffee in them to make a proper long drink, unless you use two or three pods)…
