The colleague made coffee this morning. It is ok, but slightly burnt yet watery...

I have had a cup of Nespresso which my husband brought to me in bed, as he does every morning and two mugs of Nescafe Gold Crema at work, both of which I have had to make myself. I'm inclined to be very tolerant of the standard of coffee served in independents. I don't have a dainty palate, and usually when I roll into a cafe I don't much care if the brew is strong, weak, instant, arabica, robusta or whatever, provided the cost is roughly in line with what is being provided. I *think* a lot of our local places serve very good coffee. My favourite is the one where you buy a cup of coffee and it gets endlessly refilled from the filter jug. Quantity over quality for me every time |

I noticed the quantity V-rap, when I last saw you and Bee I was pinging off the walls by the time I got back to the hostel Quality was good too... I have to be a bit careful though, with my coffee intake. Took much of it and too late in the day and I won't sleep. It does wonders during endurance races though! I have been given a double espresso gel my the nice guys from Cliff, to try. Apparently, it has got real coffee in it and it tastes like it and has the same effect. My team mates on the last 24 hr team event were certainly pinging off the walls and put some fast laps in after taking it... As I had finished my riding stints by then, I have decided to keep mine for another day. I can see it being put to good use in my next big race though |

That sounds lovely Jacdaw. I fail to see how enjoying good coffee can be pretentious. If something's not delicious, I won't buy it again. I started this thread as a companion/alternative (take your pick people) to the tea thread. I'm new to starting threads; do I need to adjust the header or add in some tags? Ta. |

I was never a fan of the idea of energy gels (even though I've got sweet tooth) - however, an espresso caffeinated gel is a different proposition altogether...

Starbucks - ass or arse, I suspect the tasting would produce much the same screwed-up face as the espresso. If he's not a barista, what is he? A coffee maker? My mum's got one of those. |
