I made a coffee this morning in my hob pot. It was v strong! I added extra milk to 50% of it and drank it then took my neighbours’ dogs out for a walk.

When I got back, I did something I’ve never done before - heated up the left over coffee (with milk) in a pan, but I crushed some cardamom and added that too. I steeped it for a while, added demerara sugar and it made a lovely cup!

I'm looking forward to Sunday afternoon, got a pack of four coffees to test out via the James Hoffman "The Decaf Project". He arranged for a shed load of green beans to be split in four; three of the four lots were then to be decaffienated via different processes, and then all four lots sent to various roasters around the world for them to roast in the same way. So in theory I get to taste the difference between caf / decaf and the different processes with some control in place over the base product.

Anyone else doing it? Full coffee nerd stuff!! I'm going to try to do it "blind" so I don't know which is which, though I don't think that that is part of the "instructions".

Not long to get them delivered! Though no reason why you couldn't take part after the event.

thedecafproject.com

Mine came from "Luckies" I believe up in that there Scotland. luckiebeans.co.uk - looks like they have some stock left too. Hadn't realised I'd paid £40 for the privilege though!!! Must have been in a less sober state of mind!!

Got something to say?
