Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Lidl has some Turkish-style ground coffee with cardamom in at the moment.

Or, big bags of cardamoms if you want to prepare your own

I love cardamom. I make my own chai with plenty of the green pods.

@Derby Tup Hebden Bridge is somewhere I fancy visiting, so I might do an overnight train stop on the way south sometime. Would you recommend it, Tup?

Great - will go early next year and try to tie it in with a Parkrun if there is one.

Up until recently I made all my homebrew coffee by aeropress, but I spotted a second hand basic espresso machine in a charity shop and bought it.

Now I'm trying to get my head around how much coffee to water to use. Any tips and do you go by scoop and weighing to the gram?

I use 18g for a 40g double shot. But I trust my grinder to give me the right amount of coffee, rather than weighing every time, and I have a "standard" cup I brew into, so I don't need to weigh that either.

I aim for a grind that gives me that yield in 30 seconds, or thereabouts.
