My preferred drink is an Americano though, so I will usually give the beans a good in the gaggia and see what happens with a good guess on the grind setting.

I have a simpler Sage machine with a separate Krupps grinder and have got the grind off to a fine art. My current favourite coffee is the Sumartra from Miles (based in Somerset but they do mail order).
