Nice, hope it all tastes good etc!

Are you ebaying the old model, or just binning it?

Might keep it for parts, or gift it to my mum if we do ever find a fix for it. The grinder, water reservoir, etc will be identical in the new one.

Definitely worth pulling it apart now that you've got a new one on the way; I reckon there'll be an easy fix, and you'll end up with the best of both worlds - a working machine you can hand on, and brand new one!

yeah, for sure... and at least the new one is an upgrade, so gaining either way.

Is 5 years old for a coffee machine? My Silvia is 14, and going strong. Well strongish; the steam knob is wobbly and it's lost a big bit of trim.

If I had to replace a machine after 5 years... I'd buy a different brand.

My gaggia is a 2006 model, so 18 years old. It's not 100% as it was, it has had a new boiler and a strip down of the steam wand with a new washer in there, as well as "upgrading" it with a PID controller and wrapping a black vinyl around it to fit better into the kitchen, but it is still going strong.

Yeah, probably should last a lot longer. It's finding someone to fix it though was the issue. That, and my impatience.

And the more "modern" stuff is less tolerate of faults etc. Especially ones with electronics and plastic parts in there.

Whilst browsing for something else, I found manufacturer refurbished Delonghi on Ebay, currently with further discount, like this for £221 (£330 new in Currys) ebay.co.uk

There may be others, I didn't search there further. There also seems so be a bit extra of some on Amazon for Prime Day, amazon.co.uk
