You've never been to Billericay Waitrose - you wouldn't take the coffee either I suspect. They sell all types of coffee in the cafe - white *and* black.

Heh, my old boss came from Billericay and just said "it's every Essex cliche you ever imagined, except the seaside, all rolled into one small town".

I want to go to the Guardian's Shoreditch coffee shop, even though (because?) it sounds like an April Fools story...

What The Actual Fleecy
None of our local Waitroses have a cafe, too small. There is a John Lewis in Reading which has a big eatery type place that does the most scrummy savoury pancakes made to order though. Not tried the coffee there. My coffee at home is better than most coffee shops so I don't tend to have takeaway coffee. Carluccio's coffee is good though. Starbucks is both ludicrously expensive and shit, I once stopped for a coffee at the Starbucks at Clacket Lane services and didn't know which was more astonishing: the price or the inferior quality.

Manchester tip:

Piccadilly station: Carluccio coffee + pastry = £2 until 11am. (possibly the eat-in price too)

Clacket Lane definitely sounds like a Profanisaurus entry.

Fleecy Says Vote Bint for MOTM
Clacket Lane is a bizarre place, small but completed surrounded at almost all times by hideous traffic jams of epic proportions. Convenient for a coffee at 6am though!

Clacket Lane is a 'one on each side' job, yes? Clockwise bad, anticlockwise good?

Jesus WS, lighten up ffs. You gave your opinion, I gave mine, no biggie, so why the (usual) OTT super antagonised response?

I've not had enough caffeine today. Or running.

Well I shall be for ever grateful to Costa's, Starbucks, Café Nero & their like. Their beans might not please all palates, they might be lining the pockets of big corporations but without them out here in the sticks local coffee shops & cafes might still be serving up instant powder in a chipped cup (circa 1980?) or stewed filter coffee sitting on the hotplate all day(1990?) :-)
