I'm currently using a cafetiere. I still need a stove-top machine, it does make a much better brew.
And a grinder, to grind some beans.
My mum gave me a Delonghi espresso maker, but I never managed to get it to make a decent espresso. It now sits in the cupboard behind the potatoes.

I have a Nespresso machine in my office. I would recommend it to anyone thinking of taking the plunge. It makes a damn fine cup of coffee, pods are around 40p each with very fast online ordering and delivery. Mine packed up recently and Nespresso repaired it FOC even though it was just outside the 3-year warranty. They lent me a machine while mine was away being fixed; they collected and delivered and gave me one-hour time-slots. You can't beat service like that.
I would say though, hear one in action before committing. Mine is quite noisy (Magimix Essenza M100) and the Krups model they sent me as a loaner was even noisier. Just my personal taste, but I also think the coffee could be a little hotter. Try before you buy!

Coffee shouldn't be served too hot, should it? Overheating takes away the flavour and I like to be able to drink my brew straight away.
Just putting it out there ... coffee sweats ... anyone else get these?

Yes RS I do I think its our 'age'. I believe you are supposed o serve coffee at 60 degrees but I have to admit I prefer mine hotter than that.
Now I want a stove top grrrrr

I think it is my 'age' too, nothing to do with the coffee allthough I do think the caffeine opens the pores, but I could just be talking nonsense. No doubt V-rap will be able to enlighten us.

When coffee used to make me feel wired (for years from 20s to 30s); I found that it had this effect on me, so I had to stop because feeling spaced out and sweaty (but only under the arms) was weird. Now I've found I can drink it again, it has this effect on me occasionally but not all the time. It's worse when I'm at work and busy - think it's affected by stress .... and sometimes it doesn't happen at all.
Unpredictable!

Found this thread after spotting Hanns snap in the gallery Have a Nespresso something or other and use the cheaper pods from waitrose as they have a better taste than anything I've tried from the Nespresso range. Have to have only one cup a day as more gives me such a buzz(sorry V'rap) and the comedown after drinking more than one the foillowing day is a real head bash, worse than when I had the occasional hangover in my 20's.

Doesn't Nespresso limit you to their range of pods? If you bought or were given some super dooper beans that you then ground yourself, you couldn't use that in a Nespresso, could you?
So, any recommendations for a "put ground coffee into" maker? I've got a stove top that is fine, but just quite fancy a bit of electric, work top kit instead! :-)G
