Go easy on yourself ITG, that also goes for LD. (()) I went out on my bike and cleared the last of my bugs, such a lovely day today. |

Perhaps you should ease up a bit, ITG 🇮🇸? parkrun done. Slower than ever (nearly 50 minutes now) but still 1st in category. And last. The parkrun is 3 laps. 1st lap: sorting myself out at the back. 2nd lap: runners pouring past me on their 3rd lap. 3rd lap: the lonely lap. |

But presumably ahead of the tail walker/runner Columba! Well done for the AG win!

ITG 🇮🇸
I need to make a call, that is for sure. Either I plough on and stop moaning, accepting that I can finish a marathon but it will be slow and ugly, or I drop to the half, take a few days down time, maybe swim more and stop beating myself up. I've run 481km this year; at the same time in 2021 (last marathon year), I had 700km in the bank. I think I know what I need to do. But I keep thinking that maybe when I can run on tarmac in normal, springy shoes it will all feel magically better. |

Hi Columba, haven't seen you for a while, glad you're still getting round that parkrun.

ITG 🇮🇸 It’s a good point not to underestimate how much running on soft/snowy surfaces takes out of you. It’s fundamentally different. However, Carp makes a good point. Sometimes you just need a rest. If you aren’t recovering between runs and it just feels grim, taking a break until you start feeling the love again is the best option. There’s plenty of other things to do (and, most importantly, to enjoy) to keep yourself in shape in the meantime.

Sorry, I didn’t mean to be as bossy as I think that sounded 😬

ITG, are you able to do most of your runs at an easy effort? I can't imagine any of your runs are particularly easy with the weather / snow. Is treadmill running ever an option? It really does sound like you're a bit exhausted. Have a ruddy large hug anyway.
