Right folks ideas....My class pump class on a Tues is 3pm and I finish work at 1.30pm should I go into the gum and do Some exercise, go for a run or just a walk? I find I am going to the big supermarkets and spending money. I don't want to go home as the gym is on the way home. Today I have sat in Starbucks. Today I will also have half an hour between pump and spin so should I just rest? All new to me this keeping fit lark

I'm on for my highest January mileage since the long ago days (well, 2012) when I used to be in spring marathon training at this time of year. Room for improvement but it's all going in the right direction.

I've managed a sad 20 miles this month. I might get 2 in tomorrow but I'm not sure. Good news is the migraine and cramps have died down so now it's just grumpy-back-syndrome. On y va! |

Running plans scuppered by having to work from home today due to Mrs PH being struck down by the flu. Kids have recovered so back at school. Meeting this evening re year 6 trip to Swanage. May be able to get out for a run in the dark later, but I suspect Sharktopus will need to be on top form to get me out the door at that stage of the day I just hope that whatever strain has clobbered the rest of the family is covered by the flu jab I had back in October... |

Morning, afternoon... Severn Bore - something I'd like to see, too. Isn't there a "race the wave" run that goes alongside it? ITG - sorry you were ill, glad you're recovering. Hello Greg. Congratulations on the January mileage. You should stick with this thread, don't retreat into lurk mode. Went to the leisure centre to book into next week's Vibe Cycle class (having already been told that this week's was fully booked), and was told there'd been a cancellation and would I like to go to today's as well? Indeed I would. Had been going to run, but revised plans on the spot. Will run tomorrow. |

Hello Greppers. LG, if you’re doing pump and spin I wouldn’t add any more exercise, at least until you know you’re used to it. A gentle walk would probably be ok. I did spin and running club in one day and managed not just to make myself very tired for the next few days, but also made my calf tight and it’s not quite right yet. |

There is a 'Beat the Bore' race occasionally Columba. I did it on 13th January 2013, so my race portfolio tells me. It was good fun (only the fastest runners beat the bore) but very muddy - writing this has brought back memories of knee deep cow slurry at one point IMO it's really only worth seeing a 5* bore - anything less is a bit of a disappointment, but there are no 5* bores this year. I've just re-read my blog about the race fetcheveryone.com/blog/41560/2013/1 How quaint that I took a camera with me - pre-smartphone days for me!

I’d probably go for a gentle cycle on the exercise bike or a walk in between for a half hour. For an hour and a half I’ll give you my address and you can come and do my ironing!
