MrsH hope you can make the best of whatever happens - redundancy a few years ago turned out well for me.
That's a shock MM. It happened to one of our fitter parkrunners too - look after yourself in whatever way works best for you.
I plan around vegbox contents each week but it all tends to turn out the same kind of thing - veg to go with roast or bangers and mash, veg to go into a stew to take to work for lunch - I should try to get more creative. This week I have fennel to deal with. Not one of my favourites but I remember enjoying it sliced very thinly with lemon juice, olive oil and parmesan. I'm trying to shift a few pounds at the mo and planning helps with that for sure.
No idea on German discounters' nuts Bint! Their washing powder and dishwaster tablets are always coming top of Which tests though so bag yourself a bargain while you're there

Fennel cut in half and grilled is good, add some goats cheese at the end Or it's great in salad, or with fish in foil. Yum.

Afternoon all! Not great news from various quarters, so hugs to all who need them.
Stage 1 of sorting my mum's drains accomplished; stage 2, having the CCTV survey, will mean I need to be there next Tuesday at 8:30 am so that'll be a nice early start. And goodness knows how many more times till it's all sorted. I do wish she'd agree to move into sheltered housing.

Oh MM, what a shock, I hope she's OK!
Mrs H - redundancy was the best thing that happened to me - but I'd been there 25yrs and they had to pay me off! A change is scary at the time, but so often brings something better.
yeuch fennel That's why I don't get a veg box, they sneak things in none of us will eat.
I'm out of the planning meals routine - and am finding that the little extra top up shops that leads to are getting expensive. Back to meat boxes and planning around them I think. - thanks for the nudge.
Bint - Aldi do nuts, not in big bags, but the ones from their cooking section are priced OK ( did you know that nuts for cooking don't have VAT but ones packaged as "snacks" do ?)
daughter has just come in with a Chemistry past paper she's done for me to mark - perfect excuse not to go run in this wind!

Bint, the best nuts are the ones from Lidl. Their nuts are usually of the Californian variety whereas most other places, if you look carefully, come from China and don't taste anywhere near as good.

Sorry to hear bad news from MM and Mrs H Had a lovely swim this afternoon - the New Year's resolutions appear to have given up already and the pool was pretty quiet

Take care LG - my toes and my right knee really didn't like a lot of what we did at circuits last night and I spent another restless night as a result.
Rather glad that Tuesday is choir night - I feel a bit in need of a physical rest evening even if it's mentally engaging.
