You think it will last til next year? They couldn't find the sponsor this year, it was the worst selection of bands in living memory (no real diversity in terms of challenging listening - whether jazz/hiphop/indie it was all so polite and nice), no live performances, it just felt woefully flat, and like an event with no future.

I think the coverage the BBC give it may about keep it alive but we'll see. Listening to the new album from The Bug Club that came out last week. My first impressions are good. |

Andre 3000. He did - he reckons he's done with rap now though. Just flute I think

Bug Club are great fun. I liked English Teacher when I saw them last year, they went up a notch with their album and diversified from just their normal sound. Lily Fontaine is such a huge talent and I think they are as worthy winners as any from the last few years. |

The first I saw of English Teacher was with Sprints at Deershed doing a mash up of Wet Leg and Le Tigre. Very good, and equally so when I've seen them do their own work live subsequently.

Seeing the Bug Club live is a must - great tunes and very funny chat.

+1 for all of bug Club, Sprints and English Teacher, all excellent both live and on the albums. Very much not a fan of Andre 3000s flute album, which has got some inexplicably decent reviews, but is entirely unlistenable to my ears. He was at All Points East festival a few weeks ago and I did go and watch a little bit just to check if I was right. Didn't stay at that stage for long. Sample conversation from the people in front of me later for the headliner (Loyle Carner): "Did he play any Outkast songs?" "No, just the new stuff" "What was it like?" "Shit. Just him playing the flute and occasionally barking." |

Listened to the new Awolnation album whilst walking the dog this morning, it was so so. Also put on the Bug Club one too, it was certainly good on the first listen.

Just got in the loft at Holiday Inn Media City, there was a man got in with us who I didn't look at but my wife pointed out when he got out that it was Stuart Maconie. I have one book in the bag I was carrying, Pies and Prejudice by Stuart Maconie!
