Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

WHat's this to failure stuff,, don't do that, you don't run until you can't run anymore, you're training muscles, sets, set, rest, set, rest, like intervals.

WS, what rest period do you do? Is it like running intervals ie short 1-2 mins or longer? At the moment I am doing sets ever 30-60 minutes

Depends, currently doing sets of 12, so 12 PU, 12 breaths, so nearly 50/50, it is a strength/power/movement thing...funnily enough having a whatsapp argument about intervals,....basically I keep it simple, short fast with relatively more recovery for short distances, if you are training for distance, 400+ up to a mile, keep yourself below anaerobic (difficult towrds the end I Know)

Also, I alternate between core + PU and other strength/Legs + PUs, to day was core, sit ups, clams, bridges, side extentions.

My purpose for doing pushups is to help with chinups. I do as many as I can without really pushing at the end so not 'true' failure. Been doing it for quite a while and works for me. It's a recommended method in chinups training.

However many I can do without pausing. I then rest between 5 to 10 minutes between sets.

Typically how many? I’m interesting because I'm rubbish at them and can’t do more than low single figures in a row. Also are they all from a dead hang?

Sorry, I misread, I thought we were still talking about pressups. I'm following a pyramid plan so my current max is 13. So the first day was 13,12,11,10,9. Plenty of rest between each set. The next day 13, 12,11,10,10. Each day an extra rep is added. I'm now concentrating on proper dead hang (I did get up to 16 but they weren't absolutely dead hang so have reset my goals again to make sure dead hang).

Wow, good work! Do you really think the press ups help? Perhaps I should get my chin up bar out
