Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Steve, I expect that whenever you set off for a run, you are consciously or unconsciously stressed. I suggest the following:
Take 2 weeks holiday with no running; on wk. 3 do 3 or 4 easy-paced runs; on wk. 4 introduce 1 session of informal fartlek - with quick bursts of varying distances planned as they come. Then gradually build up from there, with most of the runs still being at an easy pace. I would say, leave the HRM at home, and just run by how your body feels - if it's a struggle slow down, and if it feels good then go with it. [END OF LECTURE]

Thanks for the time taken to answer my grumbles everyone.
I bet you're right on all counts Evangel and I really should take on that advice, sounds absolutely right. Maybe soon. Still hoping for a miracle I suppose but unless that happens a break sounds wise. Trouble is I was hoping to factor in a two week break during winter!

My blood pressure is too high as well, not that that necessarily impacts on running pace but I suppose I might have some kind of virus. I use my own bp monitor and my BP needs to lower. Will check it daily for a week instead of my once monthly.
Today s run, half with my wife who trotted off on another loop, was a fraction better in terms of being able to keep HR to 135 odd. 6.2 at least put some miles in the draining bank!

Well done Steve running 6.2 miles and feeling a bit happier with your hr.

I did a scheduled easy pace run this morning of 5.4 miles. I checked my hr and again it made no sense, my max was 164 compared with 152 for Wednesday's tempo session.

Talk about hypochondria..!!..My BP was back to perfect yesterday evening!

Thanks hs..and hey.. you are near or top of the leaderboard now! Glad that your HR was a bit higgledy too..however. when I run at 152 BPM that's a tempo pace for me. Shows the difference in ability!😂
I did 5k in the rain this morning which wasn't too bad ..no hrm..!...but I'll take a rest day tomorrow.

I haven't discarded your idea of a break Evangel and really want a couple of weeks off when/if we have a cold spell in winter. Not that far away!

Well done Steve for your 5k without your harm that probably took away some of the stress.

A rest day from running today for me, but spent a couple of hours with Karen and her 5 year old twins in the children's playground running around and pushing them on the swings, roundabout etc. and kicking a ball about. More tiring than running 🥵🥵

My mileage is down this week but have done a lot of walks exploring the island. ( Jersey)

I sacrificed a run this morning as we’re going by bus to do a 9 mile walk covering a part of the coast we haven’t done. We have now walked most of the south coast.

Managed parkrun yesterday scraped a sub 30.
Well done everyone.

LL, I hope you enjoy your 9 mile walk along the coast. Well done for going sub 30 in your parkrun.

This morning was an easy pace 5 miles on roads.
