I can't be sure of the figures, but Seb Coe's WR 800m. of 1:41.62 made in 1982 or '83 was beaten only a few years ago. (My best time for 400m. is not much less than that in recent years!)

This morning I had a run on our local cycleway, including intervals 8x200m.(+ 200m. slow jog RBI) in av. time of approx. 52 secs. - av. pace 4:20/km. There was a slight gradient, so quite a variation in pace -the ups av. 54.7 sec., and the downs 49.25 sec. I felt quite encouraged, even though I felt a bit stiff at first. Sorry Steve, but I quite enjoy doing intervals!

RFJ, well done on your 64th VPR; such a great commitment from you.

Pity about park runs LL even though I have never done one and don't ever intend to!

The Coe and Ovett era was so exciting Evangel and fuelled the first running/jogging boom really.
As for intervals being enjoyable I reckon we tend to enjoy what we're good at ...and currently, maybe forever, I'm useless at intervals. Good going there on yours Ev.
64 vpr is fantastic RFJ. Back to work too and a routine, hope the "up" period continues.
Still wonderful conditions out there but unfortunately didn't assist me on a steep half mile hill this morning during a road run!
(Going down was pretty good!!).

Steve I did the parkruns but although involved from the start I hadn't even got to 50. I just think it's silly that I can sit in a pub but can't run in a park.
I am a bit behind this month due to the grandchildren visiting but got 8 done today. Was a bit on the warm side for me. Have to up my game this week.
Well done all..

We are hoping parkrun will start in July up here. The landowner has said it's all fine. I wanted my 50 t-shirt 2 years ago, so maybe next year. I also want my volunteer one - 4 to go.

I did my long run this morning before it got too hot, 11 miles of trials and hills. Saw quite a few feet too. Really need to get back to intervals - had a few weeks of easier running.

Good going everyone 🙂. Hope you can all enjoy the 🌞.

Well done Lesley on your 11.

I have about 2/3 to go to get my 25 volunteer T shirt too. I thought I'd get my 50 last August my shift work meant I didn't get there regularly. Now I am retired there is no excuse once they are open for business.

Well done everyone running in this heat. My last official parkrun was my 50th and I have the red t shirt. This morning was my 63rd successive not a parkrun, which I ran solo in the forest in 28.42. I set off much too quickly and paid the price. The last 2k was a struggle to keep running.

Many of our club runners are away doing the Conquer 24 hour relay race. I'm too old for that now, sleeping in a tent and getting up in the middle of the night for the next 5 mile lap is not for me ☹

Can’t be doing it with camping myself.
Got a 7 done this morning which gets me a green tick. Back on track.
HS you have to risk it or you’ll never know 😃

Well done LL. You are quite right that without pushing yourself, you will never progress. I know that it is inevitable that we slow down as we age, but I'm still competitive.

I ran a very slow 8 miles in the forest this morning, still feeling the effects of yesterday's efforts ☹
