Bit of a better day at work today. I voiced my concerns about a group I am teaching maths to (I am a Biochemist so normally teach Biology, Chemistry and a bit of Physics). I am struggling because, although I can 'do' maths, I don't have the experience of explaining it and the language that is used - this isn't helped by the group in question being a 'tricky' year 9 group. I feel like I am playing whack a mole most of the time. Anyway, my concerns have been taken seriously and a colleague who has recently taken the maths conversion course will be assisting me.

In other news, another steady heart rate run on the treadmill.

I bought toe socks while I was walking the Camino - because it seemed like such a sensible time to try something new! Loved them!

What is the purpose of toe socks? Do they prevent blisters? They look cool.

First run in 12 days today. 5.82km. Felt okay. I think it’s going to take a while to get above the line and I am aiming for 100km for the month.

Def help prevent blisters as they keep your toes separated

Well done on getting out Jack plenty time to catch up.

Fantastic medal GG.

Well done everyone on all your miles. It's been a busy week so catching up.

Road works are a pain HS, we have lots around me too. One main road out of town is closed, the traffic are using a narrow country road (including HGV's (it's not suitable for the them)) to avoid a long diversion.

I love my toe socks too.

The snow disappeared really quickly on Monday, the temperature rose from -8 on Sunday morning to +10 degrees on Monday morning. Been a lovely week of weather - just a shame I am working and missing it. Anyway I was out doing hill reps with the club on Tuesday and out early this morning. Still behind but will catch up.

Good to race someone like that hs, we used to do it until I became compromised. Can't see it happening again ☹️. Well done on 3.74.
Hurray gg for your lunchtime run and for looking ahead to next winter.

Ugh (!) to useful hill sessions Early Riser and Lesley...I went up a short hill (0.2miles) this morning, that was enough πŸ˜‚.
Super distance EdG.
Glad you've worked out a more comfortable approach to that class Mrsb and well done again on the treadmill session.
I've been wearing injinji toe socks for over a decade, I never got blisters anyway but they just seemed more comfortable depending on which shoes I was wearing. I still wear conventional socks of course. For me, with the way I'm running currently there's not much to choose between them.
5.1 miles on mainly trails this morning. Quite thick mist/fog and only 3c. Completed a 200 day streak now but my running hasn't improved!

Well done MrsB for your steady heart rate run on the treadmill.

EdGreig, I've never tried toe socks, but those look cosy.

JackFW, well done for yesterday's 5.82k run. I hope that you attain your target of 100k per month.

Lesley, I'm sorry to hear that you are also having road work problems too. Most of ours are due to burst water pipes flooding the roads, necessitating closure whilst they are repaired. It's made worse by the Hythe to Southampton ferry being unable to sail at present, due to work being required to repair the end of the pier. Bus passengers would otherwise use the ferry as an alternative to the bus.

I'm glad to hear that the snow has now gone. Well done for Tuesdays hill reps with the club, and this early morning run.

Thanks Steve, yesterday's run made a nice change from structured fartlek runs. Most of the run was at a chatty pace.

Well done for this mornings 5.1 miles, mainly on trails, in mist/fog. Congratulations for your 200 days streak.

It was very cold this morning, and also misty/foggy. I only ran 5k, as the cold air was hurting my lungs 🫁 and conversely, in breaks of the mist/fog, the low in the sky sun 🌞 was dazzling me.

The are building new houses on the edge of town HS. They need to move junctions and create a new road. Nobody wants these houses and we have no idea who will but them - there will be bin lorries going past their front doors up to their yard and tip.
