Good luck with that hs! I also became a year recently (2nd) and it was a jolt to see I had entered M40 on FE without any fanfare! I haven't had a chance to do a faster run but hopefully I can raise my WAVA a bit too! I bought the trainers mainly for looks, which I've never done before, but I know Ghosts work for me as they were my go to shoe for a while (Think my first was Ghost 12s). Just felt I needed some tempo shoes as I've been running in Saucony Speed 3s this year (I haven't had another non-broken pair of road shoes) and I don't think it's ideal to train all the time with plates. |

Good to see you putting in enjoyable miles FF. Five miles with a happy vibe better than grinding out less happy miles. Brooks Ghost are a good shoe EdGreig! I'm sure you'll make up those extra needed miles easily. Nice badge gg. I'm never sure where/how all these badges come from! All I know is that I seem to have loads of them and no idea how!! 5k in the usual early morning darkness. Didn't enjoy it much but I was tired at 5am when I got up and I think that's why. |

They are automatic dreamt up by the lovely Fetch himself. I also have no clue why a lot appear - you must have a few streaking ones! Epic run fail this morning. I woke at 5.20 and thought I’d get up have a brew and go out then woke an hour later. Still had time to go out but my mojo had gone walkabout by then. |

No worries GG, I got a loser badge this morning, but I have only placed one bet. Nice to see you running FF and enjoying it too. I have seen lots of people with the parkrun shoes, enjoy! It's that time of year when everyone is tired maybe Steve, it is for me. The darkness doesn't help. It's nice to see you getting the miles in. Good luck with your WAVA attempt HS. I was out on Tuesday night, it was around -4, so very cold. The pavements were not slippy so great for intervals. Out again this morning with my friend, it was cold but not as cold, had to watch for ice patches but it was nice to get out. |

I discovered Brooks Ghosts (14s) this year. Good reliable and solid shoe. I did 1100 km in the first pair and have bought another. They are not as fashionable as yours though, @EdGreig. There is nothing better than enjoyable miles, FF. I have lost a bit of mojo the last few weeks but I think I am turning it around. There has been a lot of reflection on why I am doing it and what it means to me, in particular completing the mini ultra I have scheduled for January. After two marathons this year, the motivation had dried up but I think I am finding a way through. I think it was @geordiegirl who said on here “you need your why” (or words to that effect) to complete a big race and I have been thinking about that a lot lately and it is helping. It has never occurred to me to do a running journal @steve45 @hillstrider, but something like that may also help improve the motivation levels. Look forward to hearing about your WAVA goal, @hillstrider hillstrider. I will be bringing up the 1500 milestone tomorrow which was my secondary target for the year. The weather is beautiful here at the moment, but it’s going to be 40 degrees on Monday so that will definitely be a rest day. @Lesley C your conditions are foreign down here, but no doubt character building and you will be a better runner for it. |

Thanks EdGreig, I'll do my best on Saturday. A very belated happy 40th birthday 🎂 A good idea to buy a brand that you tried before and were happy with. Well done Steve for this mornings 5k gb, I've got lots of badges and have no idea what they are for. Sorry to hear that your mojo went this morning, so that you didn't get out. Thanks Lesley, I'm aiming to hit 70% WAVA which I've only achieved once this year.🙏 Well done for getting out running in sub zero conditions. Beware of icy patches which are often invisible. JackFW, I've only ever worn Brooks shoes once and they were 'Brooks Chariots' They were the first 'proper trainers' that I bought, as I had no idea about what brand to buy. As it turned out, they were totally unsuitable, as they were heavy, and motion control. I find that keeping a record of my runs and races does help to motivate me, as I look back and think I haven't done bad over the years. Well done coming up to the 1500 miles milestone. It's a few years now since I hit that target. I decided not to run today, so I drove into the village to buy next year's short stay parking clock. The cost has risen to £45 which I suppose is still good value for regular users, which I'm not; but I buy one every year for the convenience, and the fact that it can be used in several other carparks. |

Gah how did I miss your post Ed? Happy belated birthday and entry to the 40's club! Glad my little words of finding your why held some wisdom for you Jack, we do all get bogged down by it at times and its ok to take a step back, reset and come back. Keep the mindfulness up, do try to do some visualisation of the course and you will smash it! Some great podcasts out there with loads of these nuggets I listen to Young Hearts Run Free and Tea & Trails. |
